The Pian dei Termini – Casetta delle Guardie – Pian dei Termini circular route is an excursion of approximately 7.5 kilometers with a difference in altitude of 350 metres. It is located in the municipality of San Marcello Pistoiese, in Tuscany, and begins near the Astronomical Observatory of the Pistoiese Mountains.
The route takes place largely on a forest road, with a short stretch of CAI path. The first part of the excursion is slightly uphill, through a beech and fir forest. After about 2 kilometers you arrive at the Casetta delle Guardie, a bivouac located in a panoramic position.
From here, the route continues downhill, following the CAI path 2. The path is well maintained and offers spectacular views of the Reno valley and the surrounding mountains. After about 5 kilometers you arrive again at Pian dei Termini, the starting point of the excursion.
The excursion is suitable for all levels of experience, but it is advisable to wear trekking shoes and bring water and food.
