The Pistoia Blues Festival is a musical event that takes place in the city every year, in July. The event, born in 1980, is now a fixed event in the summer program of Pistoia. In addition to being the first festival dedicated entirely to blues in Italy, it is often cited by enthusiasts for hosting renowned international artists such as B.B King, Muddy Waters, Fats Domino, Otis Rush, the Blues Brothers Band and many more.
Usually the event, focuses in Piazza del Duomo, presents three concerts and music along the streets of the old town. However, some editions have presented up to 7 music nights. In addition to the performances of the great artists, in the days of blues, the city hosts night markets, workshops, conferences, music stages and emerging bands.
The location of Piazza del Duomo is particularly appreciated by the artists who perform at the Pistoia Blues Festival and by the audience of fans coming to town for the occasion. The square, in fact, rather small in size, allows everyone to see the stage perfectly and creates an almost intimate atmosphere between artist and audience. During the concerts, there is always a very charming light show that follows the rhythm of music.
